Confidence isn’t something you’re magically blessed with. It’s something that you have to BUILD over time.
I’ve personally struggled with confidence especially in the past couple of years as I’ve been stepping outside of my comfort zone more and more…and more.
Here’s what I’ve learned during this journey of building confidence:
You will build confidence by mastering your mind. Anytime you have a negative story, an excuse, or a fear pop in your head, I encourage you to FLIP that on its head and think of something positive that could come from it instead. It’s 100% possible to do this with pretty much anything. Here’s an example:
“I’m not outgoing enough” FLIPPED TO “People will naturally be drawn to my calm personality”. If you want to build confidence, you *have* to have BELIEF in yourself. You *have* to be your own biggest cheerleader.
Having FEAR is believing negative things will happen to you.
Having FAITH is believing positive things will happen to you
You will build confidence by being authentic. Good news! You don’t have to be like everyone else. In fact, that’s the quickest way for you to “blend in” with the crowd, cause comparison and imposter syndrome, and kill your confidence. Focus on being yourself. People WILL be drawn to you for that in person and on social media. If you don’t feel authentic, that’s the quickest way to kill your confidence.
You will build confidence by taking action. Are you making yourself proud? Are you doing something outside of your comfort zone? Are you doing something for a bigger purpose: for your finances, your family, and/or for yourself? That will build your confidence exponentially over time. Doing the opposite (not taking action) will continue to kill your confidence.
You will build confidence by being resilient and overcoming your hardships when things don’t go quite as planned. Did you totally fumble on live video? Determine how you can better prepare next time and move on. Did you miss your goal last month? Take a good hard look at what you did, what you didn’t do, and focus on filling in the missing pieces next month. Did you have an unhappy customer or client? Determine what you can improve on with the next one and keep moving along.
ALL IN ALL: Believing in yourself, speaking positivity over your life, and taking action are the BEST ways to build confidence. You’re not going to magically wake up with it someday, so you might as well start working on it with these tips above! And believe me, I’m right there with ya, sister. I’m actively working on all of this too.
Here’s a positive mantra for you to speak over your life and goals:
I’m willing. I’m worthy. I’m capable. I learned this from a Bob Heilig podcast and I loved it!
