Yes, these are easy to make. Yes, these are fairly healthy. HOWEVER, these are not one of those nasty, dry recipes that is loaded with a ton of protein powder and weird ingredients you can never find in the store. I used to fall victim to those recipes and lie to myself and say they were good. I think my taste buds were tainted. 🙂
Sometimes, people try way too hard to use protein powder in recipes in order to make treats “healthy”. I say, if you want a treat, you might as well just really enjoy and savor the real thing every now and then!
These take about 10-15 minutes to prep, and I almost always have these ingredients on hand. That’s what I love about these.
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together:
If your mixture is a little too dry, feel free to add a little more peanut butter and honey to achieve the correct consistency. If you don’t have chia seeds or flaxseed, coconut flakes are another great option!
Form into 1-inch balls, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before you dig in!
Disclaimer: Since these use chocolate chips, they’re not safe for doggos. If your pups are anything like mine, and they don’t leave your side when there’s food around, be sure to give them a dog-friendly treat after making them. 🙂
Do you have any recipes for healthy treats I should try? I used to buy protein bars ALL the time, but I’ve outgrown them for a few different reasons. They’re usually expensive, loaded with sugar alcohols, and don’t taste half as good as something that’s homemade!
If you try this recipe and love it, let me know!
